5 Tips On Buying A Modern Glass Coffee Table

Every home has a modern glass coffee table and it is normally the centre of attraction in any room where there happens to be one. Pick the wrong one for your room and it will look untidy and out of place. Pick the one for your room and it’ll will look warm and welcoming to all the visitors who come to see you. Making sure you have the perfect table for your room is, therefore, essential if you want to make just the right impression. The following are a few things you should be thinking of when you’re looking to buy a coffee table for your room:

1. How big is the room? A modern glass coffee table should be noticeable in any room where there is one. It should not, however, over bear
the room
. As such, before you purchase for a room you need to take some measurements of
the room
itself and then decide how big you want
the table to be in that room. Once you have done this, you can keep a record of the maximum measurements you want the coffee table to be.

2. What shape do you want? Coffee tables tend to come in rectangle or circle shapes, but there is no reason why you cannot choose to have a square or triangle coffee table. You need to be thinking about the shape you want the coffee table to be in and how this will look in
the room
once it is in there.

3. What material are you using? There are lots of different types of woods and they can either be light or dark in colour. While a dark table may look really nice, it may look out of place in your room if there is nothing else in
the room
that sets it off. Likewise, a light coffee table. Furthermore, if you have a particular type of wood, such as mahogany, but nothing to work it off, it’ll look out of place in
the room
even if it is the most beautiful thing you have ever seen when buying it in the shop.

4. What’s the purpose? Different
modern glass coffee tables
have different purposes. Some are used exactly for that and nothing else. Others are also used to display magazines and books so visitors to
the room
can have a quick read while waiting for you. So, you need to give some thought as to what the purpose of the coffee table is going to be.

5. Do you need any safety aspects?
Modern glass coffee tables
can come with solid tops or glass tops. They can have square angled corners or round angled corners. They can have wheels to be portable or they can be stationary. In fact, there are almost as many different features as there are
coffee tables
. What you, however, may also need to consider is how safe your coffee table needs to be. For example, if you have young children it may not be advisable for you to have a glass top and sharp square corners, otherwise you may need to put the coffee table in the garage until the children grow up.

A Modern Glass Coffee Table Is A Sign Of Elegance And Style

Those who owned a modern glass coffee table some years ago are among the select few who can be said to have the wealth and the taste to keep the most necessitating cosmetic palate. It is only those who had the good taste and good fortune that could own them, as this was what they signified. That was why they could only be found in the most modern and upwardly mobile homes around the world.

Over the decades, things are no longer how they used to be. They have changed. These days, just about anyone can own a Modern Glass Coffee Table, unlike how it used to be. Why? They are now much more affordable that even the middle-class can use them as attractive living room pieces of furniture and still enjoy the feel of having good taste and class. Having a Modern glass coffee table still shows a sign of elegance and style. These days they are now affordable for almost everyone.

Brass is what surrounds the classic glass coffee tables. Brass gives the reflective material much more gleam and brightness. Today, anyone can buy these pieces as antiques. If you don’t want to buy them as antiques, you can still buy them brand new. Add the brass-accented coffee table to your room and get the wonderful glow it brings.

No matter how good your decor looks, it can be made to look better with the seemingly timeless tables. Of course, the glass coffee table can easily fit into any room and would not take away the general feel of the design of the room. The unostentatious feature of the table is elegant without being overmastering. That is why you can put a glass coffee table almost anywhere.

To show you how timeless these tables are, my glass coffee table was passed down to me from my beloved parents. That is why I love the piece so much. Sadly I don’t use it now because my energetic and curious toddler is all over the place. I don’t want her to get too energetic near that piece of glass as destruction can happen, if you know what I mean. This is one of the problems with having such special glass piece of furniture.

The technique I used the first time to get my toddler away from the glass coffee table didn’t seem to work. I tried to always boom “NO” each time my toddler neared the table, but this wasn’t effective. Another technique I tried was to put a bummer around the glass table. Still it didn’t work. The table just seemed to attract my daughter more and more.

My toddler just doesn’t want to stay away from the table. I have stood guard many times with a constant supply of window cleaner which I used to clean up my daughter’s fingerprints from the glass. But each time I took her away from the forbidden object, she just goes back to it like bees to honey. Now, I am running out of options. What I will do now is just to get my beloved glass coffee table away from her reach, until she has grown up. Then, my only worry will be her father!

The Joys Of Owning A Modern Glass Coffee Table

What is a Modern Glass coffee table? It depends on whom you ask. While the name implies that a coffee table is made for the express purpose of serving coffee on it, or gathering around it to enjoy a good, stiff cup of coffee, most people use a coffee table for anything but. Ask ten different people and you’ll get ten different ways in which each of them uses their coffee table. Some people use the coffee table in their living room to put their feet on while they watch television. Others use the coffee table as a decorator accent in a room, often bedecked with flowerpots, floral displays or magazines. Others use the coffee table as an eating table while they watch television. Still others use the coffee table to place study supplies or as a general catchall in the living room. How often to you see an empty coffee table? Not very often. They’re usually either cluttered or spotless, depending on how many children or teenagers live in the household. A coffee table can be made of anything, really. Glass, wood, plastic, even a piece of plywood balanced on cinderblocks can serve as a coffee table. Children use a coffee table as a toy, sometimes creating a pirate ship or tank with it, while teens convert it to a platform for their game stations. Men use a coffee table to put their feet up when they get home, and women do the same.

A coffee table is an indispensable piece of furniture in most living rooms and dens, but it’s rarely used to serve formal coffee from. Gone are the days of afternoon get-togethers when coffee and biscuits were served, complete with linen tablecloths and silver spoons and fine china. Today, a coffee table is a sturdy piece of furniture designed to withstand the antics of children and adults alike. For many households, the coffee table is the place to store backpacks and textbooks and homework. It’s a place to spread out the newspaper or to complete crossword puzzles. It’s a place to gather around, either on chairs or on the floor. A coffee table these days can often be the one piece of furniture that a family gathers around on a nightly basis. For that reason alone, a coffee table is a valuable piece of furniture for every family, no matter what it’s made out of.

A coffee table can be made of marble culled from an Italian quarry or pieced together by nails and two-by-fours. It can be made of stone or pressed plywood. But a coffee table is more than a collection of physical materials. A coffee table is the true centerpiece to any living room or den and nearly every homeowner or apartment dweller has one. It serves its function in the household, no matter what that function is. It may be fancy or plain, outrageously expensive or cheap as dirt, but a coffee table is a coffee table and no home is complete without one.

Guide to Glass Coffee Table

Date: 26 November, 2008  |  Posted By: admin  |  Category: Uncategorized  |  Comments: 914

A glass coffee table can have a lot of power because it is the centerpiece of your living space and can be the center of discussion. You can place books on your glass coffee table and use it as a focal point for a lot of the social interaction that goes on in your home. Most people with coffee tables know that it is not just a glass coffee table that makes the difference in a home but it is the interaction that it can foster by being a gathering place for people to be around as they converse. A coffee table of any material is wonderful, but a glass table adds a special dynamic of class to the home.

The reason glass adds the dynamic of class is that it maintains an allure through the clarity of the table and does not distract from other elements of the room. It can remain a centerpiece and a focal point without overpowering anything, including the objects you put on the table. Without a glass coffee table, you could risk having a table that overpowers and becomes an object instead of a place for objects. The distinction lies in the fact that people will notice the table first and the objects on the table second, including the conversation that surrounds it.

Designer Tips

There are great ways to decorate your room with a glass coffee table and a little bit of creativity. You may want to start with some sort of table addition such as a candle or an object to place on the table to draw a bit of attention to it. As mentioned before, however, you do not want it to completely overpower the room so the addition should be quite minute. Think about possibly adding some books or some other items to it and making sure that you maintain a specific trend in the room with the colours and other décor options. You don’t want to overdo anything if you can help it.

Finally, be sure to include the proper accessories around the table. A good idea is to put the coffee table on another small throw rug instead of directly on the rug itself. This will bring the table up a small bit and will draw it in to blend with the rest of the room. Using this technique on other end tables is good as well as it can present your room to have a very layered look. The glass coffee table is great to place in the middle of such an arrangement to gather focus to the center of the room.

Coffee Table - How to Find the Perfect One

Date: 25 November, 2008  |  Posted By: admin  |  Category: Uncategorized  |  Comments: 88

A living room is a place where families gather and guests mingle during get-togethers. The furniture is often cloistered in a cozy pattern that encourages the interaction of all who gather here. In the center of the action is the space where the perfect coffee table resides; offering snacks, reading material, a display area for flowers or photos, or simply a place to rest weary feet.

When choosing the coffee table best for your needs, there are several things you will need to consider:

● the décor of your room
● space available
● the main purpose of the table
● the style of table

When looking at the décor of your room, decide whether a wood, glass and metal, wicker or a combination of materials in a coffee table would match best. Color will help to determine your choice, also, since you will want to accentuate all of the hues in your living room. One should enhance, if not match, your choice of living room furniture and window treatments to help provide a blended feel.

How much space will your table be able to use? For smaller rooms, a glass or mirror one works exceptionally well, since the invisible quality of the table will give the impression of occupying less space. A smaller one with drawers and shelves to offer hiding places to tuck away magazines, remote controls and such works equally as well, making the best use of small spaces. A spacious living room can well handle any variety of styles and colors.

Give some thought to the main purpose of the coffee table. If you entertain a great deal, ample space on which snacks, wine glasses and coffee cups may be placed for the convenience of guests is desirable. For casual use, you may wish to choose a style with more storage or display capabilities.

The style of your furniture will help to decide the style of the coffee table. For a country décor, a rustic table may be your best choice. For a modern look, a combination of glass and polished chrome will be a beautifully bright accent. For eclectic tastes, combine your favorite materials in one table, like tile, glass or metal.

Can’t decide on just one style? There are a variety of multi-purpose coffee tables available for those who have many uses for their coffee table. One style easily converts from a smooth top to an exciting game surface on which checkers, backgammon, roulette, and poker can be played in the comfort of your own living room. Or, to combine dinnertime with television watching, a table with a hinged top that converts to a dining table might be the perfect choice.

Whether your living room is used for entertaining or relaxing, it will have so much more to offer with the perfect coffee table taking center stage. With so many choices of style, color and uses, the perfect coffee table is only a decision away from your living room.

Tips Before Buying a Coffee Table

Date: 25 November, 2008  |  Posted By: admin  |  Category: Uncategorized  |  Comments: 1,074

For a long time, the coffee table was viewed as an also-ran in the glittering world of living space furniture. In the shadow of furniture pieces such as sofas, love seats

, and chairs, the utilitarian coffee tables character was barely ever acknowledged.

Since then, homeowners have changed their position. Most of us now recognize the real aptitude of the coffee table. An important part of the living space in its own right, this piece of furniture is now accepted as a critical piece of furniture that sets the atmosphere of living area decor.

What to Remember

The style, shape, and size of your coffee table should be based on two critical criteria: the current style of your interior decor and what usage the table is going to have within the space. If young children are at home, the table should be robust and functional, whereas if you entertain often, you should keep functionality as well as appearance in mind.

What Style to Choose

The ideal table should not only become part of your living area setting, it should also be functional and sturdy. While choosing a coffee table, you must take into account its usability and convenience as well as the style of your living space.

Traditional Coffee Tables

Traditional coffee tables can either be elaborately carved or have a plain, understated appearance. These coffee tables are usually crafted from wood, hardwood solids, veneers, or a combination of wood components. They typically have sumptuous details, vertical lines, rigorous symmetry, and high-gloss finishes that accent formal home interior decors.

Some traditional coffee tables include a decorative metal or wrought iron base with a glass top. Striking a balance between classic styling and trendy look, these tables are consistently gaining in popularity.

Contemporary Coffee Tables

Contemporary coffee tables typically present clean lines, bold colors, and a spare, minimalist design. Modern coffee tables are regularly made from metal, glass, leather, or stone and may sport geometric or other artistic shapes. Contemporary designs in wood are in addition really prevalent.

The right-sized coffee table

A standard coffee table height is typically between 16 to 18 inches. If you entertain frequently, you may like your coffee table to be higher so your guests won’t be inconvenienced while setting down their drinks.

One prevalent guideline is that your coffee table should be about the same height, or about 1 to 2 inches lower than the seat height of your sofa. The perfect length of the coffee table should be about two-thirds the length of the sofa.

However, the right size and height of a coffee table should be determined by the dimensions of your other living space furniture in conjunction with your comfort level and convenience.
